Primulina longii 龍氏報春苣苔 ( syn. Chirita longii )

Primulina longii 龍氏報春苣苔 ( syn. Chirita longii )

Primulina longii has one of the biggest Primulina flowers. It is a relatively small Primulina and the plant to flower ration is eye catching. A well grown Primulina longii has numerous peduncles on a single plant and can carry up to 4 flowers each.

Primulina shouchengensis is another small Primulina species but it is less floriflorous relatively. Flower size is much smaller although it is slightly smaller than Primulina longii.

Flower color of Primulina longii varies from coerulea to purple and flower size can reach as many as 5.1cm across. I have a plant that is having beautiful leaf variegation and the variegation also inherited to its offsprings. There will be several Primulina longii primary hybrids flower in 2014 and I hope I can show you how they look like in the near future.

Primulina atropurpurea 紫萼報春苣苔 ( syn.Chirita atropurpurea )

Primulina atropurpurea ( syn. Chirita atropurpurea ) 紫萼報春苣苔

A special Primulina species having unique deep green shinny leaves that is so attractive in the genus Primulina. Leaf form of Primulina atropurpurea is a bit similar to Primulina subrhomboidea but peduncles seems to be shorter. Peduncles covered with dense purple hair. Flower color varies in different degree of purple. I am lucky to have a clone that is having more intense purple flowers with better shape compared with other clones.
